Truckee Flannel co. Team
Joanna Dzierzawski
Meet Joanna, aka Ppppnut! Joanna didn’t always snowboard. In fact, she learned to ski at the age of 3 from her dad and grandpa who first learned themselves in Poland. Joanna grew up in the midwest, skiing in Wisconsin on a small hill in Wisconsin. At age 12, she also started snowboarding and moved to Lake Tahoe after graduating high school early at age 18. Joanna quickly fell in love with the area, the mountains and the lake. Her love for the outdoors inspires her to get outside and said “I try not to be inside”. Look for Joanna riding the park, touring the backcountry or getting out on her snowmobile in the winter. In the summer, you can catch her on her street or dirt bike.
Maggie Ziols
Meet Truckee Flannel Co. ambassador Maggie Ziols! Maggie moved to the Reno-Tahoe area in 2017 to pursue a career in environmental engineering and explore the Sierra Nevada. Originally from the mid-west she grew up in Chicago and was introduced to mountain biking and snowboarding in college in the upper peninsula of Michigan. In addition to being an avid mountain biker, snowboarder, backpacker and fly fisher, she is also founding member of the local group Dames of Dirt, whose mission is to create a more inclusive mountain bike community for womxn.
Why does Maggie love the outdoors? ““There’s no substitute for the happiness and peace of mind that recreating in the outdoors brings me. Whether taking pow turns or shredding singletrack, having a community to share the stoke with is key. The sense of community that surrounds the outdoors is unmatched in Truckee-Tahoe and I feel beyond lucky to live here.”
Well… we feel beyond lucky to have her on the team!
Alex Baker
Alex has been a life long lover of the snow and mountains. He grew up riding in the Northeast finding his passion for the outdoors and freedom from everyday life on the slopes of Massachusetts. He followed his heart coaching snowboarding and mentoring at summer camps which brought him to the west coast 15 years ago, calling Tahoe home. Alex spends his winter managing a competitive snowsports program and playing outdoors as much as possible. You can find him and the love of his life, Michelle, on the skin track, snowmobiling, or riding the resort. In the summer kayaking, mountain biking, and hiking in the Sierra.
Shawna Mayo
Say “Hi” to Truckee Flannel Co. ambassador Shawna Mayo! Shawna is originally from Oregon and moved to South Lake Tahoe in 2012 where she attended a Fire Fighter 1 Academy, and learned to snowboard. Since 2009 she has done a mix of wildland and volunteer structural firefighting and has been a part of many firefighting aspects including Camp Blaze, a week-long non-profit youth women’s fire camp in Washington. When she isn’t firefighting in the summer, Shawna snowboards through the winter, traveling the world, backpacking and camping – she has also been competing in the Freeride World Tour Qualifiers since 2019.
A huge congratulations to Shawna who is recently married to her wife Jeni! Thanks so much for being a part of our team!
